In a recent meeting with Volodymyr Zelensky, UK’s Keir Starmer vowed to take actions aimed at diminishing Putin’s influence. Starmer cautioned against Russia capitalizing on surging global oil prices and benefiting from sanctions relief due to turbulence in the Middle East.

Zelensky, the Ukrainian leader, visited the UK to finalize a new defense agreement. The discussions took place at Downing Street and were followed by Zelensky addressing Members of Parliament in Westminster.

During the meeting, Starmer emphasized the importance of maintaining focus on Ukraine amidst conflicts involving the US, Israel, and Iran. He stressed the need to support Ukraine and prevent Putin from exploiting the situation in Iran for personal gain.

Amid global oil supply concerns stemming from Iran-related tensions, the US temporarily relaxed restrictions on Russian oil. Zelensky expressed gratitude to the UK for its unwavering support during challenging times.

Additionally, Zelensky was welcomed by the King at Buckingham Palace, where discussions included the resilience of the Ukrainian people. The meeting also involved NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte and highlighted the use of Ukrainian-made Nemesis heavy drones by soldiers from The Rifles.

Zelensky later addressed MPs, highlighting the collaboration between Iran and Russia in weapon development. He underscored the shared hostility of the regimes in Russia and Iran, expressing the need to prevent such regimes from posing a threat to Europe and its allies.
