The man, in his 30s, was apprehended under public order laws and held at a Dublin police station. The Defence Forces were called in around 8:20 pm to deal with a reported “suspect device” in the Liffey Valley area of Co Dublin.

After inspection, the bomb disposal experts confirmed that the device was not viable, and the area was handed back to the police. The operation was completed by 10 pm without incident.
