A senior member of the Jewish Representative Council expressed concerns about the ongoing fear within the Jewish community following the recent Golders Green attack. Raphi Bloom highlighted the need for addressing the root causes of anti-Semitism while acknowledging the government’s financial support for enhanced security measures. The burning of four ambulances served as a stark reminder of the escalating issue of anti-Semitism in the UK.

The incident, currently under investigation by counter-terrorism police, involved the torching of ambulances without yet being classified as a terrorist act. Authorities are examining an online claim of responsibility as they search for three hooded suspects. No arrests have been made in connection with the attack.

Bloom emphasized that the attack on a Jewish organization was a deliberate act targeting the Jewish community, reflecting a broader wave of anti-Semitism in the country. He stressed the importance of addressing the underlying causes of such hatred to prevent future incidents.

Detective Chief Superintendent Luke Williams announced increased support for Jewish communities in London in response to the attack. The Metropolitan Police will implement a specific policing plan focused on key community areas to ensure safety, especially with Passover approaching in early April. The police are committed to a zero-tolerance approach towards hate crimes and are working closely with community leaders to provide reassurance and protection.
