An Iranian individual has been released from custody after an alleged attempted intrusion at the naval base housing Britain’s nuclear submarines.

Prosecutors have announced that no legal action will be taken against a 31-year-old Romanian woman who was also arrested in connection with the incident.

Both the man and the woman were apprehended on Thursday, March 19, at HM Naval Base Clyde, commonly referred to as Faslane. They were subsequently charged and were scheduled to appear in Dumbarton Sheriff Court on Monday.

Faslane serves as the primary base for the UK’s submarine fleet and the Trident nuclear deterrent.

A spokesperson from the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service stated, “The Procurator Fiscal received a report involving a 34-year-old man linked to an incident on March 19, 2026. After thorough evaluation of the case details, the man was released from custody for further investigation and did not attend court. The case against him is still active and under review.”

Regarding the woman, the spokesperson mentioned, “After a detailed review of the case’s circumstances and the evidence at hand, the Procurator Fiscal concluded that no legal action should be pursued. However, the Crown retains the option to proceed if additional evidence emerges.”
