“Father and Daughter Torture Ex in 15-Hour Hostage Nightmare”

A man and his daughter subjected her ex-partner to brutal torture and threw him out of a window during a horrifying 15-hour hostage situation, as revealed in court.

John McGinley, aged 58, and Stacey McGinley, aged 39, attacked Duncan Craig in a flat in the east end of Glasgow due to an alleged debt owed by him to Stacey. The assault began with Craig being pushed from a first-floor window and later stripped, with Stacey inserting an object into his ear, causing him severe pain.

The High Court in Glasgow heard that Craig was audibly choking during the ordeal, and Stacey further aggravated his wounds by spraying gold-colored hairspray on his head, leading to screams of agony.

The victim was eventually rescued when another woman present at the scene discreetly sought help, prompting the arrival of armed officers who apprehended the McGinleys. Both individuals, who had prior records of violence, confessed to their crimes in court and now face substantial prison sentences.

On February 15, 2025, Craig was at the McGinleys’ residence with another woman when Stacey, dissatisfied with him over a debt exceeding £600, initiated physical attacks on him. Following a scuffle, Craig found himself on the window ledge of the flat, where John forcefully pushed him out, causing him to land in a neighboring garden.

Prosecutor Alasdair Shaw disclosed that Craig suffered visible injuries, including a misshapen leg and head bleeding, while the other woman present urged for medical assistance, which Stacey rejected, insisting on keeping Craig inside.

The victim was then confined in a room, where John asserted that Craig deserved his fate for owing money to Stacey. Stacey continued to assault Craig, prompting his pleas for help.

Throughout the harrowing ordeal, Craig endured numerous assaults, with Stacey undressing him and inflicting further harm by pushing objects into his ear, biting him, and stomping on his head.

Stacey coerced Craig into contacting his mother for money to settle the debt, while John brandished knives to strike Craig and tossed him around the room. The victim was left severely injured, with extensive bruising, bloodied appearance, and forced to crawl on the floor.

Despite the escalating violence, the other woman managed to discreetly alert authorities about the situation, resulting in a police intervention that led to the arrest of the McGinleys and the rescue of Craig, who was found in distress with multiple injuries.

Following their arrest, the McGinleys faced charges of attempted murder, severe assault resulting in permanent disfigurement, endangering Craig’s life, abduction, and extortion. With over 20 previous convictions between them, their sentencing was adjourned until May by Lord Mulholland, who remanded them in custody.
