“Man in Custody for Attempted Rape on Elderly Woman in Park”

A male suspect has been taken into custody for alleged attempted rape following a severe assault on a woman in her 70s at a well-known park during daylight hours. The elderly victim was promptly hospitalized after the incident at Concord Park in Sheffield. The 25-year-old suspect remains detained by the authorities under suspicion of attempted rape.

Inspector Alec Gibbons of Sheffield North East Neighbourhoods assured that the victim is being supported by law enforcement and medical personnel. Additional patrols have been deployed in the vicinity to enhance security measures. He acknowledged the potential unease within the local community due to the incident and encouraged individuals with queries or worries to engage with on-site officers for assistance and safety.
