“Vehicle Collision Ignites Fire, Closes M62 in UK”

Share

A vehicle collision causing a fire has led to the closure of a busy motorway in the UK. The westbound lanes of the M62 in Greater Manchester are shut between J12 Eccles Interchange (M60, M602) and J11 Birchwood Interchange (Warrington (E), Birchwood; A574) following the incident on Thursday, March 26.

The closure is a result of a single-car collision that subsequently ignited the vehicle. Emergency responders from Greater Manchester Police, Manchester Fire & Rescue, and National Highways Traffic Officers are currently at the scene.

Diversion routes, indicated by a hollow square symbol on local road signs, have been set up by National Highways for drivers traveling from the M60 anti-clockwise/M602 westbound. Motorists are advised to factor in extra time for their journeys and explore alternative routes if possible.

The situation is ongoing, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
