A mother of three was tragically discovered deceased inside a freezer at her residence earlier this month, according to court proceedings.

An inquiry into the passing of 37-year-old Carolann Barraclough, known as Caz, has commenced at Wakefield Coroner’s Court. Confirmation of Caz’s demise was given by a paramedic from the Yorkshire Ambulance Service who responded to her residence in Horbury, Wakefield, on March 6.

Coroner Oliver Longstaff indicated that it seemed Carolann had been located in a freezer at her home. He clarified that the inquiry was not reaching any definitive conclusions at this stage. A post mortem examination identified the cause of death as “blunt force head trauma pending further investigation.”

During the hearing, it was disclosed that Carolann’s spouse had been accused of her murder. Mr. Longstaff decided to halt the coronial inquiry.

On Ken Churchill Drive, heartfelt cards and floral tributes were placed, with one message honoring Carolann as a “beautiful and amazing sister” with an enchanting smile. The family expressed gratitude for the supportive messages, cards, and flowers received, as reported by Yorkshire Live.

Carolann was remembered as a cherished mother, daughter, sister, cousin, and friend.

David Barraclough, 45, residing at Ken Churchill Drive, Horbury, appeared in Leeds magistrates’ court earlier this month facing charges of Carolann’s murder.

Detective Chief Inspector Stacey Atkinson, from the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team, stated early in the police investigation: “We understand the community’s concerns regarding this incident, and I can confirm that we are not seeking any additional individuals in connection with the case.”
