A man in his 60s has been questioned by detectives for allegedly assisting in rape and human trafficking in connection with the investigation into abuse by former Harrods chief Mohamed Al Fayed, as confirmed by the Metropolitan Police.

The police department disclosed that four individuals have been interviewed under caution as part of the ongoing inquiry. No arrests have been made at this stage.

The investigation has received reports from over 154 victims detailing accusations of sexual assault, rape, sexual exploitation, and human trafficking against the deceased ex-Harrods owner, who passed away in 2023 at the age of 94.

Commander Angela Craggs of the Metropolitan Police emphasized the importance of prioritizing the victims in the investigation. She stated that the latest developments signify a significant advancement in the extensive and intricate probe.

Although Al Fayed is deceased and cannot face legal action, the authorities are committed to holding anyone involved in his alleged crimes accountable. Individuals with relevant information or concerns are urged to reach out to the authorities or provide anonymous tips through Crimestoppers.

Mohamed Al Fayed, who adopted the ‘Al’ in his name to reflect Arab royalty, was also known for owning the Ritz Paris hotel and Fulham FC. Additionally, French authorities initiated a separate formal investigation last year into Mohamed and his late brother Salah Al Fayed regarding allegations of aggravated human trafficking with multiple victims.
