In the search for a missing teenager who went missing after attending a football match, a body has been discovered.

Paul Pike, an 18-year-old, was last sighted outside Pride Park shortly after the Birmingham City versus Derby County match on Saturday, March 21. Following his disappearance, concerns escalated, leading to a missing persons inquiry by the police.

Derbyshire Police has now confirmed the finding of a body. A statement mentioned, “A body, believed to be that of the missing Birmingham City supporter, Paul, has been located.

“Officers conducting a search near Pride Park along the River Derwent, close to the last known location of Paul, discovered the body just before 10:30 am today (Sunday, March 29).”

Football fans joined forces to search the area around Pride Park following Paul’s disappearance. Last week, Derbyshire Police appealed for any details regarding Paul’s whereabouts.

However, the body was only found today, over a week after Paul went missing. Although formal identification is pending, authorities believe it to be that of the teenager hailing from Kings Heath, Birmingham.

The police statement added: “Despite formal identification pending, Paul’s family has been informed, and they have requested privacy during this period.

“The incident is not considered suspicious, with no indication of external involvement. Many individuals, both from the local community and Paul’s hometown of Birmingham, contributed to the search effort in recent days, for which we express our gratitude. A report is being readied for the coroner.”
