Three adolescents have been accused of the murder of a 16-year-old girl who was discovered with stab wounds on a city street. The court appearance of the three individuals, where their relatives and acquaintances were heard weeping, followed the tragic incident.
Chloe Watson Dransfield, a resident of Gomersal, passed away in a hospital after an altercation in Kennerleigh Avenue, located in the Austhorpe region of Leeds, at approximately 6 am on Saturday. West Yorkshire Police charged 18-year-old Kayla Smith and 19-year-old Archie Rycroft, both from Leeds, with murder. Additionally, a 17-year-old boy, whose identity is protected, faced the same charge. All three suspects were detained pending their court appearance at Leeds Magistrates’ Court, where their parents were present.
According to a police spokesperson, an 18-year-old male from Leeds, who was arrested on suspicion of murder, remains in custody. Meanwhile, an 18-year-old male and a 17-year-old female, also arrested on suspicion of murder, have been released on bail while further investigations are conducted.
On Monday evening, Chloe’s father and other family members released a heartfelt tribute expressing their profound sorrow and stating that Chloe will always hold a special place in their hearts. In a separate tribute, Chloe’s mother described her daughter as her best friend and expressed the irreplaceable loss she feels.
Following the tragedy, floral tributes were placed in the serene street, and forensic officers were observed entering one of the residences. A fundraising page set up by one of Chloe’s relatives has garnered nearly £15,000 in donations by Tuesday morning.
