One fatality and a person in critical condition have been reported in the wake of an active shooter incident at an airport.
The Elko Regional Airport in Nevada, United States, has been shut down due to an active shooter situation that unfolded on Monday, April 13.
Lieutenant Shane Daz from the Elko Police Department disclosed that authorities were alerted about an active shooter around 12:30 pm local time on Monday. Upon their arrival, one individual was discovered deceased.
According to KSL TV, the deceased individual is a minor.
In a statement, the Elko Police Department conveyed, “Police are currently examining a crime scene at the Elko Airport. The airport is inaccessible to all traffic at present. Updates regarding its reopening will be provided in due course.”
A thorough investigation into the incident is presently underway.
