“Russian Drone Breaches NATO Airspace, Targets Ukraine”

Share

A drone from Russia breached the airspace of a NATO nation during a nighttime attack on Ukraine. The defense ministry of Romania reported that the drone targeted civilian and infrastructure sites in an overnight assault. Romanian air defenses tracked two aerial targets in the border region of Tulcea, losing contact with one over an uninhabited area, calling it a violation of international law.

The ministry condemned the actions of Russia, stating that one of the targets entered Romanian airspace before contact was lost. Following the incident, a team was dispatched for investigation. This event occurred near the Ukrainian port of Izmail, a frequent target of Russian attacks, across the River Danube.

This incident follows Romania’s recent deployment of fighter jets in response to Russian assaults on Odesa ports on the Danube. The country’s Ministry of National Defence confirmed the dispatch of F-16 aircraft and the readiness of air defense systems. Although additional drones were detected heading towards Ukraine, none breached Romanian airspace.

Ukrainian authorities reported significant damage to Izmail and a Panamanian-flagged vessel due to massive Russian attacks on civilian and port infrastructure. Fortunately, there were no casualties. Tragically, recent strikes in Ukraine by Russia have resulted in the deaths of children and elderly individuals in brutal attacks. An eight-year-old boy perished in a drone strike in Cherkasy, leaving 14 others injured. Additionally, a 74-year-old saleswoman was killed in an appalling attack on a bus stop in Zaporizhzhia.
