“Fitbit Air: Comfortable, Screenless Fitness Tracker Debuts”

Share

Fitbit, a well-known brand in fitness wearables for more than 15 years, has introduced a new device called the Fitbit Air. Unlike previous models, the Fitbit Air does not have a screen and resembles popular strap-style bands like Whoop. While it lacks features such as message reading and heart rate monitoring, it offers benefits like enhanced comfort.

According to a recent study by Google, the Fitbit Air is rated as more comfortable than its competitors due to its bracelet-like design. Additionally, it boasts an impressive battery life, lasting up to a week on a single charge and offering quick recharging that provides a day’s worth of power in just five minutes. The device comes with a bi-directional magnetic charger for easy recharging without worrying about orientation.

Despite its minimalist appearance, the Fitbit Air remains true to its fitness tracking capabilities. It monitors various metrics including sleep patterns, activity levels, exercise, heart rate, and can even detect conditions like AFib with irregular heart rhythm notifications. Internal features include an optical heart rate monitor, accelerometer, gyroscope, oxygen saturation sensors, and a temperature sensor.

Since the Fitbit Air lacks a screen, all data is synced to smartphones where users can access a comprehensive overview of their health through the Google Health Coach. The device is water-resistant up to 50 meters and will be offered in four colors: Obsidian, Fog, Berry, and Lavender. When it hits the market, the Fitbit Air will be priced at £84.99.
