Daniel Dubois showed incredible resilience by getting up from the canvas twice to defeat Fabio Wardley in a fierce boxing match. Wardley started aggressively, knocking down Dubois within the first 10 seconds and repeating the feat in the third round. Despite these setbacks, Dubois found his rhythm and began to assert control with his jab.
As the fight progressed, Dubois dominated, landing heavy blows that tested Wardley’s endurance. By the ninth round, Wardley’s right eye was nearly swollen shut from the punishment he endured. In the 11th round, Dubois sealed his victory and reclaimed the world champion title.
Reflecting on the intense battle, Dubois stated, “We faced tough moments, but it was a true war. I proved my strength and warrior spirit by getting back up and fighting harder.”
Wardley, defending his heavyweight title for the first time, had initially received the belt when Oleksandr Usyk relinquished it. Meanwhile, Dubois sought redemption after his defeat by Usyk last year to become a two-time champion.
Entering the ring in all-black attire, Dubois was delayed due to traffic, while Wardley represented his hometown team, Ipswich Town, recently promoted to the Premier League. The match saw Wardley take an early lead with a right-hand knockdown, but Dubois rallied back, showcasing his powerful jab and right hand.
Despite Wardley’s resilience, Dubois maintained control with his jab, gradually wearing down his opponent. By the later rounds, Wardley was visibly fatigued and struggled to withstand Dubois’ relentless attacks. In the 11th round, a series of blows from Dubois forced the referee to intervene, declaring Dubois the victor.
The fight was a testament to Dubois’ determination and skill, solidifying his status as a formidable champion in the boxing world.
