“Trump Claims Iran’s Nuclear Facilities Destroyed”

Donald Trump has provided an unusual and perplexing update on the Iran war, asserting that the country’s nuclear facilities had been completely destroyed.

The US President shared a statement that seemed to contradict his stated goal of preventing Iran from developing a nuclear weapon. Trump criticized “fake news” and reiterated that last year’s attacks on Iran had eradicated its nuclear sites.

In a post on TruthSocial, Trump declared, “Operation Midnight Hammer resulted in the total obliteration of the Nuclear Dust sites in Iran.” He mentioned the challenging and lengthy process of uncovering the obliterated sites. Trump criticized media outlets for not acknowledging the efforts of the military personnel involved.

While Trump appeared to acknowledge the challenge of acquiring materials for a nuclear bomb, his statement also undermined one of the objectives of the war. Earlier, Trump had claimed that Iran was only weeks away from obtaining a nuclear weapon, which was a justification for the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

Operation Midnight Hammer, conducted during the joint US-Israel Twelve-Day War in June of the previous year, targeted Iran’s nuclear sites. The Trump administration hailed the operation as successful, asserting that it had effectively destroyed Iran’s nuclear program.

Although analysts expressed doubts about the complete destruction of Iran’s nuclear capabilities, many agreed that the regime had suffered setbacks in uranium enrichment production. The assertion that Iran’s nuclear sites had been “obliterated” contradicted the varied explanations provided by the Trump administration for initiating the war.

The reasons cited for the ongoing conflict include halting Iranian missile capabilities, preventing nuclear weapon development, regime change, and seizing oil resources. A temporary ceasefire was established between Iran and the US a couple of weeks ago, but a permanent resolution has not been reached.

Despite Trump’s repeated claims that the war would soon conclude, negotiations ended abruptly after a single day of talks in Pakistan. Subsequent peace talks are scheduled to take place in Pakistan, but there is no clear indication of an imminent end to the conflict. The global economy has been impacted, with oil prices surging worldwide due to the conflict.

The crucial Strait of Hormuz, a major oil shipping route, has faced disruptions from both Iran and the US. Pakistan, through its defense pact with Saudi Arabia, could potentially be drawn into the conflict against Iran, which has targeted Saudi Arabia through its proxies.
