The Montreal Roses took swift action following their exit from the W Canadian Championship by relieving their inaugural head coach, Robert Rositoiu of his duties. The club’s sporting director, Marinette Pichon, made the announcement on Thursday morning, expressing gratitude to Rositoiu for establishing the foundation of the professional women’s soccer team during its early stages.
Acknowledging the difficulty of parting ways with a coach, Pichon emphasized the need for a fresh perspective to propel the club forward for the remainder of the season and to advance its growth. Currently positioned in second place in the Northern Super League (NSL) with 27 points, the Roses have 10 matches remaining in the regular season.
Robert Rositoiu took on the role of head coach in September 2024 in preparation for the Roses’ debut season in the NSL in 2025. In the interim, Maryse Bard-Martel, the team’s former first assistant coach and head of goalkeeping, will step in as the interim head coach while the club searches for a permanent replacement for Rositoiu. Bard-Martel will lead the team in their upcoming match against AFC Toronto.
