Chrysler’s parent company, Stellantis, announced on Friday a global recall of approximately 1.5 million Ram 1500 pickup trucks due to a seat belt issue. The recall affects Ram 1500 vehicles manufactured between 2019 and 2026, where the second-row center or driver-side seat belt buckle anchor may not have been correctly attached to the vehicle’s structure.
This issue could compromise the second-row seat belt system’s effectiveness, increasing the risk of injury to passengers. While Stellantis is aware of one injury possibly linked to the recall, there have been no reported fatalities.
The recall encompasses 1.27 million vehicles in the United States, 156,000 in Canada, 15,000 in Mexico, and around 75,000 in other regions outside North America. Stellantis will inform affected vehicle owners to contact dealers for an inspection. Dealers will assess and, if necessary, properly attach the second-row center and driver seat belt buckle anchor to the vehicle’s body.
