Melissa Humana-Paredes and Brandie Wilkerson, the Canadian beach volleyball pair, claimed the bronze medal in front of their home crowd at the Montreal Elite16 tournament.
The Olympic silver medalists from 2024 staged a remarkable comeback against Germany’s Svenja Müller and Cinja Tillmann, winning with scores of 20-22, 21-12, and 18-16 to secure a podium finish.
Wilkerson showcased an impressive performance with 32 attack points, 5 block points, and a key serve point, while Humana-Paredes contributed with 9 attack points.
The match had to be halted temporarily due to adverse weather conditions before it resumed.
Earlier in the day, Humana-Paredes and Wilkerson suffered a defeat in the semifinals against Brazil’s Thamela Galil and Victoria Tosta in a closely contested match ending 21-19, 20-22, 15-7.
Despite missing out on a third consecutive victory, the Canadian duo were set to compete for the bronze medal against Germany’s Svenja Müller and Cinja Tillmann later in the day.
Humana-Paredes and Wilkerson had previously clinched the Montreal titles in 2023 and 2025, with their Olympic silver medal in between during the Paris Games.
