Furthermore, Aldi has reduced prices on beverages like New Zealand Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc and Aperini Spritz 4-Pack, along with its Lacura SPF50+ Sensitive Lotion.

Julie Ashfield, Chief Commercial Officer at Aldi UK, emphasized the importance of providing great value without compromising on quality, expressing Aldi’s ongoing commitment to reviewing and adjusting prices to meet customers’ budget needs.

In a similar move, Waitrose has also introduced price cuts on over 160 own-brand products as part of a £20 million investment aimed at helping shoppers save money. These reductions, averaging 12%, include staple items like free-range eggs, onions, chicken thighs, apples, frozen peas, chickpeas, and chopped tomatoes.

Almost half of the discounted products are from the Essential Waitrose range, marking the ninth round of New Lower Prices since 2023 and bringing the total investment by Waitrose to £162.5 million across more than 1,000 products.

Meanwhile, supermarket price inflation has slowed down this month, with prices being 3.1% higher compared to a year ago in May, a decrease from 3.8% in April and 4.3% in March, according to figures from Worldpanel by Numerator.
