Police officers armed with firearms were seen outside a secondary school in the UK on Monday. The presence of law enforcement followed threats of potential harm made over the weekend, prompting the closure of Llanishen High and Eastern High schools in Cardiff on Monday for investigation by South Wales Police.

The police department received information on Sunday evening about threats to cause harm at the schools, with reports indicating that an individual intended to bring weapons to the premises. Consequently, a decision was made in collaboration with Cardiff Council to shut down both schools for the day. Police officers were observed at the school locations on Monday, with armed officers spotted at Eastern High in Trowbridge, as reported by WalesOnline.

Both schools are anticipated to remain closed on Tuesday to allow staff to convene and finalize plans for implementing additional security measures before reopening on Wednesday, aiming to reassure parents and students. South Wales Police confirmed that there is currently no evidence of any individuals posing a threat at either school.

Cllr Jayne Cowan, the Cardiff Council ward councillor for Rhiwbina, shared an update received from the local authority. The update mentioned ongoing investigations and searches conducted by the police, stating that no evidence of a threat at the schools has been found. Efforts to identify the responsible party are ongoing, with police assessments indicating no objections to the schools reopening.

South Wales Police emphasized that the decision to close the schools was made prioritizing the safety of students, staff, and the wider school community. Despite the concerns raised by the situation, authorities are ensuring thorough assessments and appropriate safety measures while providing regular updates as the investigation progresses.
