Armed police officers rushed to an Asda store after receiving reports of individuals carrying a firearm in the supermarket’s parking lot. The incident occurred at Taw Wharf in Barnstaple around 11:30 am on Friday, March 13, as confirmed by Devon and Cornwall Police. Three men were apprehended on-site, where armed police were spotted in the store’s parking area, according to Devon Live.
Although a thorough search of the area was conducted, no weapon was discovered, and the three individuals were subsequently released without facing any charges.
A spokesperson from the Devon and Cornwall Police stated that they had been alerted to the presence of individuals with a firearm at Taw Wharf in Barnstaple. As a precautionary measure, armed officers were dispatched to the scene.
After an extensive search, no firearm was recovered, and the three detained individuals were let go without any further legal action.
