The Toronto Blue Jays are gearing up for a crucial stretch with 30 games remaining in the regular season as they face the Kansas City Royals on Tuesday night at Rogers Centre. Currently trailing the Cleveland Guardians by two games for the final American League wild-card spot, the Blue Jays are set to play six consecutive home games before embarking on a nine-game road trip.

With the Guardians holding a slim lead, the Houston Astros are closely trailing, while the Texas Rangers claimed the top spot in the AL West. The Minnesota Twins are also in the mix, tied with the Blue Jays and trailing the Guardians by two games. Additionally, the Baltimore Orioles, Seattle Mariners, and Detroit Tigers are still in contention for a wild-card spot.

Pitching ace Max Scherzer will take the mound for the Blue Jays, who have a record of 64-68, against the Royals’ Seth Lugo. Despite the Royals’ recent eight-game winning streak, they are six games behind the Blue Jays in the wild-card race. Following the series with the Royals, the Blue Jays will host the Mariners in a crucial three-game weekend series.

The Blue Jays have been performing well, winning 13 of their last 22 games in the month. Although they recently lost a series to the Yankees, they have been dominant in series play. The Blue Jays are entering a favorable stretch in their schedule, with no matchups against teams above .500. Their remaining opponents collectively have a winning percentage of .464, with 18 games against direct wild-card competitors. Moreover, half of their final 30 games will be played at Rogers Centre, providing them with a home-field advantage down the stretch.
