A British tourist passed away during a vacation in Bali after being swept out to sea by a strong rip current. The 39-year-old individual was hit by a wave and dragged away by the rip current while swimming at Nyang-Nyang Beach on the island.
Beachgoers discovered the lifeless body of the tourist near the shore in Pecatu village around 7:45 am local time on Sunday. Two other tourists were seen entering the water to retrieve the man’s body. Despite the efforts, paramedics later confirmed his tragic death before transporting the body to a local hospital for further examination.
Nyoman Sidakarya, the Head of the Denpasar Search and Rescue Office, mentioned that the rescue operation involved multiple agencies, including the Denpasar Search and Rescue Office, Water Police, South Kuta Police, Pecatu village authorities, Balawista South Kuta lifeguards, and local community members.
The British tourist was taken in an ambulance to Prof. Ngoerah General Hospital in Denpasar for verification and examination. Authorities are currently investigating the cause of death, and the Mirror has reached out to the Foreign Office for comment.
