“British Tourists Rescued from Sinking Minibus in Canary Islands”

Share

British tourists found themselves in a perilous situation when their minibus began sinking in floodwaters in the storm-battered Canary Islands. A dramatic video captured the moment a woman pleaded for help from the roof of the vehicle, while another passenger urged her to stay put until help arrived. The incident occurred in Puerto de la Cruz on Tenerife’s northern side, where heavy rainfall brought the minibus to a halt around 9 p.m.

With the water level rising, the tourists, believed to be all from the UK, had to exit the minibus through the sunroof. Some were assisted by the driver, while firefighters had to rescue two women using a ladder lowered from a nearby bridge. One of the stranded passengers, visibly distressed and surrounded by luggage, was seen vaping to calm her nerves as she awaited rescue.

The frightening ordeal unfolded during an emergency weather warning for potential flooding, issued to residents in the area. The tourists were near Puerto de la Cruz’s Botanical Gardens when they became trapped, but fortunately, all individuals were safely rescued without any injuries.
