Moise Bombito made a decision influenced by a conversation with Canadian national team coach Jesse Marsch. The 26-year-old center back was committed to not missing the FIFA World Cup hosted in his home country, despite his physical condition. His club team, Nice, revealed that Bombito will undergo surgery on his left tibia due to chronic pain. The Ligue 1 side stated that a leg scan revealed the necessity for surgery to address the ongoing issue.

In an interview with Nice, Bombito shared that the national team coach emphasized his importance for the World Cup participation, motivating him to push through the pain. Despite his dedication, Bombito acknowledged the conflicting signals from his body regarding his injury.

Following a tibia fracture in October, Bombito recovered in time to represent Canada in the recent tournament. Despite his efforts, he struggled with the injury during matches, particularly in the round-of-16 clash against South Africa. Bombito expressed disappointment over the setback but remains determined to overcome it.

Upon returning to Nice, Bombito continued to experience discomfort and pain but delayed surgery to explore other options. He described the constant pain he felt, affecting his daily activities. Bombito emphasized the mental toll of the injury and his eagerness to return to full fitness.

Bombito transferred to Nice in 2024 after playing for the Colorado Rapids in Major League Soccer. In his debut season with the French club, he featured prominently before injury setbacks limited his appearances the following season.
