“Coachella Festival-Goers Shocked by High Costs”

The opening weekend of Coachella Festival has concluded, signaling the start of another round of festivities from April 17-19. However, attendees have expressed surprise at the high costs associated with attending the event.

Tickets for the renowned music festival in the Californian desert can range from approximately $800 to over $2,000 per person, depending on the ticket category and add-ons. These prices do not cover expenses such as travel, accommodations, or meals at the festival grounds. Consequently, many festival-goers rely on purchasing food and drinks available on-site since bringing personal provisions is prohibited.

Highlighting this issue, a British festival attendee named Angelina shared her experience of the exorbitant prices at Coachella, including the cost of basic items like tap water, which left many astonished.

In a video, Angelina expressed curiosity about the pricing of water at Coachella, known for having the most expensive food offerings among festivals worldwide. She proceeded to demonstrate the bustling festival area and the challenges of getting refreshments.

Angelina visited a food truck to buy a bottle of water, revealing that it cost $8 (£5.91) before tax. With tax included, the total came to $8.70 (£6.43). Additionally, she left a tip, making the final cost $9 (£6.65).

Afterward, she utilized a water bottle refilling station available at the venue, filling her bottle with tap water. She then shared her positive review of the water’s taste, humorously mentioning it as “filtered water, fresh from the Atlantic Ocean.”

Following the video, viewers engaged in discussions about the water price, with some questioning the necessity of paying for water when refills could be free. Coachella’s guidelines allow attendees to bring empty water bottles, excluding certain materials, which can be refilled at no cost at designated stations.

Opinions varied, with some finding the refillable bottle price reasonable as it allowed for unlimited refills, while others deemed the initial water cost excessive. The debate among viewers reflected differing perspectives on the festival’s pricing policies and services offered.
