Scarlett, who had been receiving medical care at Cork University Hospital, passed away on Monday evening after sustaining severe head injuries in the attack three weeks ago.
At the funeral held at St Munchin’s parish in Limerick, emotional tributes were shared, highlighting Scarlett’s exceptional character and the profound impact she had on the lives of those around her. Her sister, Victoria Faulkner, delivered a heartfelt eulogy, expressing the deep love and admiration felt for Scarlett.
During the service, Victoria honored Scarlett’s infectious laughter and unwavering support, emphasizing the irreplaceable bond they shared. She pledged to seek justice for her sister and reiterated the immense love and loss felt by their family, including Scarlett’s devoted daughter, Oceanna.
Canon Donal McNamara, the parish priest, encouraged attendees to embrace forgiveness in the wake of Scarlett’s tragic passing, emphasizing the transformative power of letting go of anger and finding peace. He reminded the grieving community that healing and reconciliation are possible, even in the face of deep pain and loss.
Scarlett’s final resting place will be at Ballycannon cemetery in Meelick. The funeral service also served as a reminder of the ongoing legal proceedings, with two individuals already facing charges related to the assault on Scarlett.
