Four teenagers have been apprehended in connection with a homicide inquiry after a 16-year-old boy was fatally stabbed close to a shopping center in Peterborough.
Authorities received a distress call just before 7 pm yesterday (Sunday, April 12) reporting an assault on a teenager in Riseholme, near the Ortongate Shopping Centre. Emergency services, including paramedics, responded to the scene, and the boy was transported to a hospital where he tragically passed away later in the evening.
At the Orton Centre, a police cordon has been established while investigations are ongoing, as reported by Cambridgeshire Live.
In a statement, law enforcement confirmed that four individuals were arrested in connection with the fatal stabbing. The incident is being treated as a murder case, with two individuals – a 15-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man from Peterborough – held on suspicion of murder.
Additionally, a 17-year-old girl from Peterborough and a 16-year-old girl from March have been arrested on suspicion of aiding an offender and possession of a bladed article. All suspects are currently in custody at Thorpe Wood Police Station.
To facilitate the police inquiry, an area surrounding the scene at the Orton Centre has been cordoned off, and there will be an increased law enforcement presence in the vicinity in the coming days.
