On the Gaza coast, resembling a vacation spot rather than a war zone, Palestinians enjoy the sun amid a conflict that persists into its third year. Despite discussions of peace talks and withdrawals, skepticism prevails among the populace.

Israeli airstrikes continue to target Hamas militants in Gaza almost daily, with the Israeli army expanding its control over more than 60% of the territory, surpassing the agreed-upon limit of 50%. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has directed further advancement to 70%, rejecting a U.S. plan for mutual withdrawal of Israeli forces and Hamas militants.

The movement of the “yellow line” by Israeli troops, as verified by satellite images and eyewitness reports, has forced Palestinians to face constant displacement and destruction of their homes. This ongoing conflict has led to over 1,200 Palestinian casualties since the ceasefire began, adding to the toll of more than 70,000 deaths since the conflict erupted in 2023.

Israel justifies its actions as defensive measures in line with the ceasefire agreement, aiming to prevent infiltrations and protect both troops and communities. The construction of barriers and military installations inside Gaza has intensified, while neighborhoods have been systematically razed since last October.

Extremist Israeli groups advocate for annexation of Gaza, with some political figures openly supporting settlement expansion. As tensions escalate, Palestinians express fear of being coerced into leaving their homeland, highlighting the stark reality faced by those living under the shadow of the advancing yellow line.
