“Houthi Rebels Claim Missile Strike on Israeli Targets”

The Houthi rebels in Yemen have claimed responsibility for a missile strike on Israeli military targets, marking their first involvement in the conflict between the US, Israel, and Iran.

According to the group, they launched a series of ballistic missiles aimed at sensitive Israeli military facilities in retaliation for attacks on Iranian, Lebanese, Iraqi, and Palestinian locations. They have vowed to continue their operations until all aggression ceases.

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed the attack after intercepting a missile launched from Yemen towards Israel earlier today.

In a statement, Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree declared their readiness to enter the conflict, stating that they are prepared for direct military intervention. He emphasized that their involvement would be triggered by new alliances aligning with Washington and Israel against Iran or any hostile activities in the Red Sea against Iran.

In 2025, former US President Donald Trump, with support from the UK, conducted a bombing campaign to halt Houthi attacks on Red Sea shipping. Despite targeting numerous sites and top Houthi officials, the campaign culminated in a negotiated ceasefire.

The Houthis, an armed group advocating for Yemen’s Shia Muslim minority, consider themselves part of the Iranian-led “axis of resistance” against Israel, the US, and Western powers, in alliance with entities like Hamas and Hezbollah.

Saudi Arabia and the US have accused Iran of supplying weapons, including drones and missiles, to the Houthis during Yemen’s civil war, in violation of a UN arms embargo.

Simultaneously, Israeli airstrikes have resulted in casualties in southern Lebanon, particularly in Deir Zahrani and al-Hanniyeh, where Syrian nationals wounded in the attacks have been transported to hospitals in Tyre.

In other areas, Beit al-Sayyad and al-Mansouri were hit by air raids, while al-Qlailah faced intense artillery fire. The exact number of casualties is currently undisclosed.
