Iconic guitarist Phil Campbell from Motorhead has passed away at the age of 64 after a prolonged battle in intensive care following a complex surgery. The announcement was made by his band, Phil Campbell and The B*****d Sons, which includes his sons Todd, Dane, and Tyla Campbell.

Phil was renowned for his role as Motorhead’s guitarist, having been part of the band from 1984 until its disbandment in 2015 following the death of the band’s founder, Lemmy.

The news of Phil’s passing was shared on the band’s Instagram account, accompanied by a photo of Phil and his wife Gaynor. The statement described Phil as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, affectionately known as “Bampi.” It emphasized his significant impact through his music and the memories he created, noting that his legacy will endure.

Tributes poured in from celebrity friends and fans, with guitarist Chris Caffery expressing deep sadness and gratitude for Phil’s inspiration and friendship. Another guitarist, Alex Skolnick, fondly recalled his memories with Phil and extended condolences to the Campbell family.

A native of Pontypridd, Phil developed a passion for music early in life, learning to play guitar at age 10 and drawing inspiration from iconic musicians like Jimmy Hendrix, Tony Iommi, and Jimmy Page. He began his musical journey at a young age, eventually joining Motorhead in 1984 and becoming the band’s longest-standing guitarist until its disbandment.

Following Motorhead’s dissolution, Phil formed a band with his sons called Phil Campbell And The B*****d Sons in 2016, releasing multiple albums. Additionally, he released a solo album in 2019. His health issues led to the cancellation of the band’s headlining performance at Takedown Festival.
