Four individuals accused in an investigation involving the manufacturing of explosives and firearms in London, Ontario, are now facing 19 additional charges, as per court documents filed on Tuesday. The accused include Jerry Tong, Zekun (Alex) Wang, Fei (Frank) Han, and Feiyang (Astrid) Ji, who were initially charged in January. All four have ties to Western University, either as students or recent graduates, with the male individuals having backgrounds in the university’s engineering department.
The updated list of charges, now totaling 31 separate counts, includes joint charges against all four individuals, as well as charges specific to each accused person. Among the new charges are the possession of five distinct explosive substances, possession of stolen property, and unauthorized access to computer data related to firearms production.
The investigation, which began on January 24 following a trespassing incident at Western University involving two men, led to the arrests of the accused individuals. Further searches were conducted at multiple locations, including residences in London, Ottawa, and Gatineau.
Additional firearms-related charges have been laid against Tong, Wang, and Ji, encompassing possession of magazines, suppression devices, and other prohibited firearms. Tong and Wang are facing allegations of mishandling and storing a rifle. Tong also faces charges stemming from events in other cities, such as storing rifles in Orleans, manufacturing a prohibited firearm in Ottawa, and possessing a rifle in an unauthorized location in Quebec.
Moreover, Wang is now accused of weapon manufacturing activities between September 2025 and January 2026, alongside charges related to a break-in at a Western building in October 2025. The accused individuals are also facing new charges for possessing explosive substances, including pentaerythritol tetranitrate (PETN), trinitrotoluene (TNT), dinitrophenol (DNP), hexamethylene triperoxide diamine (HMTD), and lead azide.
The accused individuals are currently navigating the legal process, with two out on bail and two remaining in custody. Tong and Ji are out on bail, while Wang was granted bail under strict conditions in March. Han was denied bail and remains in custody.
In total, Tong faces 28 charges, Wang faces 20, Han faces 11, and Ji faces 13 charges. The legal proceedings continue as the accused individuals face the consequences of the allegations brought against them.
