“Major Police Incident Causes A1M Closure in West Yorkshire”

Motorists are currently experiencing traffic disruptions due to the closure of a major route this morning following a significant “police incident.”

The A1M southbound in West Yorkshire has been shut down since 4 am, leading to extensive delays and the implementation of a diversion. Emergency services are on-site to manage the situation.

National Highways has reported that the closure spans from J41 (M62) to J40 near Pontefract because of a police-led incident that transpired shortly after 4:00 am today. West Yorkshire Police are spearheading the response, with support from the West Yorkshire Ambulance service. National Highways Traffic Officers are also present to aid in traffic control.

As of 8:15 am, National Highways issued an update stating that the southbound section of the A1M between J41 and J40 near Pontefract remains closed due to the ongoing police incident. No estimated time for reopening has been provided at this moment.
