A man has been apprehended on suspicion of sexual assault following the circulation of a distressing video online depicting a woman in distress after an alleged incident at the O2 Arena.
The video was recorded within the crowd at the South London venue during a performance by American rapper Gunna last night.
In a recent announcement, the Metropolitan Police stated that a woman in her 20s was “approached from behind” by a 26-year-old man who allegedly “sexually assaulted her.” The man was detained by police at the venue after being intercepted by venue personnel, and he is currently in police custody.
A police spokesperson informed the Mirror: “A man has been detained in connection with a sexual assault in South London.
“Approximately at 20:20hrs on Wednesday, 25 March, law enforcement was summoned to the O2 Arena in Greenwich by the venue’s management.
“A female in her 20s was reportedly sexually assaulted from behind by a male individual.
“Officers were already present at the venue and promptly arrested a 26-year-old man who had been detained by venue staff.
“He was taken into custody and remains there.”
