Meghan Markle has introduced two fresh items in her As Ever Mother’s Day collection, inspired by her young children. The Duchess of Sussex’s lifestyle brand has unveiled two candles inspired by Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, paying homage to their royal titles.
The limited edition new releases, available for purchase starting Wednesday, include Signature Candle No. 506, commemorating Prince Archie of Sussex’s birthdate on May 6, and Signature Candle No. 604, which honors Princess Lilibet’s June 4 birthday. This launch marks As Ever’s expansion into “expanded fragrance and apothecary offerings,” adding to its growing array of candles.
Meghan’s 506 candle, seemingly a tribute to her six-year-old son’s distinctive red hair, features a blend of ginger, neroli, and cashmere scents, offering a warm and comforting aroma for a soft and familiar ambiance in any room.
On the other hand, the candle inspired by her four-year-old daughter Lilibet is crafted with amber, water lily, and santal essences, delivering a light floral scent that brings a sense of brightness and openness to the household. Each candle is priced at £47.
Ahead of the launch, Meghan discussed with Town & Country magazine how her modest lifestyle brand has evolved from making signature jams to becoming a comprehensive home goods destination.
Meghan expressed, “The goal for As Ever has always been finding ways we can bring beauty and ease to your life – as a host, as a guest, as a friend, as a mum. In whatever way you show up, I want As Ever to make it feel special. It began with a pot of jam, and a collection for your kitchen, and now we are excited that the collection will soon expand into other parts of your home. It’s a very special time, and I’m proud of what we are creating.”
In the product descriptions, Meghan mentions how the names and fragrances are inspired by her children, using their full royal titles “Prince Archie of Sussex” and “Princess Lilibet of Sussex.”
In 2024, it was disclosed that Prince Harry and Meghan opted for the Sussex title as a surname for their children to unify their family, naming the children Archie Sussex and Lilibet Sussex instead of Mountbatten-Windsor.
While Meghan’s supporters online welcomed the Mother’s Day collection announcement, critics were swift to point out her use of her children’s complete royal titles, especially given Harry and Meghan’s departure from royal duties six years ago.
Some also questioned why Meghan chose to feature her children’s names and titles so publicly when she has previously emphasized her desire to keep them out of the limelight and shield their identities on social media posts.
Meghan’s previous candle release also paid tribute to another significant moment in her life: her wedding day. Part of last year’s Christmas collection and inspired by Harry and Meghan’s 2018 wedding, the candle named 519, referencing their May 19 wedding day, boasted fragrances of Moroccan mint and white tea notes.
