Police Seek Public Help in Assault and Abduction Case

Police in Northern Ireland are seeking information from the public after a man allegedly assaulted a woman by punching her in the head and face and then forcing her into a car on Main Street in Portglenone. The incident occurred on Saturday night, leading to the arrest of a 42-year-old man who is now in police custody.

According to the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI), a witness reported the assault, stating that the male suspect physically attacked the female victim before compelling her into a black Nissan Quashqai around 10pm. Authorities are urging anyone who witnessed the event or has video footage to come forward and assist in the investigation.

A PSNI spokesperson disclosed that the arrested individual faces charges such as false imprisonment, common assault, and unauthorized motor vehicle use. The man remains detained as the police continue their inquiries. Officers are encouraging those with information, including potential witnesses, interveners, or individuals with CCTV recordings, to contact them at 101, quoting reference number 2 15/03/26.
