Sky subscribers who enjoy movie marathons are in for a change as the company consolidates two services into one. Sky has announced that Sky Cinema Animation (channel 312) will merge with Sky Cinema Family on April 30, streamlining family-friendly film offerings on channel 304.
While this merger may seem like a reduction in options, Sky assures customers that the move aims to simplify the service by providing a single destination for popular titles such as the Shrek series, The Secret Life of Pets, and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, among others.
Although the standalone Sky Cinema Animation channel will no longer be available, it will make temporary comebacks during school holidays to entertain kids. Sky confirmed specific periods for its return, including July 24 to August 30, October 23 to November 1, and December 1 to January 5.
In addition to this change, Sky has ventured into the home security sector with the introduction of new smart devices. Customers can now subscribe to a Sky Smart Doorbell and Chime for £5 per month plus a £15 upfront cost. This system features full HD video recording, mobile alerts, customizable activity zones, two-way audio, and 30 days of cloud video storage.
For those seeking more advanced options, Sky offers a Smart Home Bundle with Smart Home Plan+ priced at £8 per month and a £20 upfront fee. This package includes an indoor camera and enhanced app controls for scheduled arming and automatic device modes.
Paul Sweeney, Managing Director of Sky Smart Home, emphasized the company’s commitment to making premium smart technology accessible. He highlighted Sky’s focus on delivering valued features that are user-friendly, straightforward, and affordable for customers.
