A tragic incident involving an electric bike and a car resulted in the death of a 14-year-old boy in Chesterfield, Derbyshire. The boy, identified as Finley Dawson, was riding the e-bike with a 15-year-old passenger on Newbold Road when it collided with a Kia Sportage around 8.30pm on Thursday. Both riders were ejected onto the road and rushed to the hospital due to severe injuries.
Sadly, Finley succumbed to his injuries the next day as they were deemed unsurvivable upon arrival at the medical facility. The passenger remains hospitalized in a serious but stable condition. The driver of the car is cooperating with the authorities as a witness, and no arrests have been made, according to reports by Derbyshire Live.
Derbyshire Police spokesperson expressed condolences to Finley’s family and mentioned ongoing support from specialized officers. A statement jointly issued by the families of the boys emphasized the dangers of e-bikes on the road, highlighting the tragic consequences that led to Finley’s loss and the friend’s severe injuries.
