Police are currently looking into the tragic passing of a teenage visitor in a popular vacation spot in Britain. The deceased, a 15-year-old girl, was discovered floating in the sea close to a marina in Puerto Rico, located in the southwest of Gran Canaria. The distressing incident occurred at approximately 9 am on Saturday, March 28, after the girl’s mother had reported her missing.
While the exact timing of the mother’s contact with authorities has not been disclosed, an unverified report suggests that she phoned emergency services after the girl failed to meet her family as planned at 8 pm on Friday at Amadores Beach in Puerto Rico. The family’s holiday accommodation is situated in Barranco Agua La Perra, a vicinity adjacent to the tourist hub in Mogan municipality. Detectives investigating the case have stated that all possible scenarios are being considered.
The location where the Norwegian girl’s body was recovered, following multiple emergency calls from witnesses, was approximately 200 meters off the coast between Puerto Base marina and Balito beach, a rocky cove. Coastguard personnel brought the body ashore, and the exact timing of the official missing persons report being filed is yet to be determined.
Initially mistaken for a homeless individual, the body was eventually linked to the missing teenager, prompting the police to request the mother’s presence for potential identification. The Civil Guard is spearheading the active police inquiry, with a post-mortem examination scheduled to take place in the near future.
