Share

A truck crashed into a residence following a collision with a line of vehicles on a primary route in a village. Eyewitnesses reported that the heavy goods vehicle, loaded with fertilizer, struck the brick gate of a house on Sheffield Road in Oxspring, Barnsley, earlier today. Authorities were on-site, inspecting the truck and talking to affected neighbors.

According to a resident, the driver experienced a medical emergency while driving, causing the truck to crash into the house. Another witness mentioned that the driver’s erratic driving led to the collision with five cars and a wall. The incident prompted the closure of Sheffield Road from Roughbirchworth Road to Bower Lane, affecting local bus services.

Reports indicate that the collision occurred around 5:50 am, resulting in the truck crashing through a dry stone wall, damaging the property’s front garden and a shed, but narrowly missing the house itself. Emergency services, including an ambulance, responded to the scene. South Yorkshire Police confirmed the incident, stating that no serious injuries were reported, but the driver was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

Travel South Yorkshire informed of road closures and potential bus diversions due to the ongoing situation. The road closure is expected to remain in place while authorities manage the aftermath of the collision.
