The United States has reportedly delivered a 15-point peace proposal to Iran and has urged for a month-long ceasefire. This initiative reflects the Trump administration’s determination to seek a resolution to the conflict, which has led to increased oil prices and economic instability. The plea was transmitted to Iran through diplomats in Pakistan, as revealed by sources familiar with the matter.
The plan encompasses various aspects, including addressing Iran’s ballistic missile and nuclear programs, as well as maritime routes. Additionally, the US is said to be pushing for a ceasefire of one month to deliberate on the 15-point agreement submitted to Iran.
Among the stipulations in the peace plan are requirements for Iran to cease all uranium enrichment and shut down enrichment facilities in Isfahan, Fordow, and Nantaz. The proposal also calls for Iran to halt its support for regional proxies and establish a ‘free maritime zone’ in the Strait of Hormuz. The specifics of any concessions offered by the US remain undisclosed.
It remains uncertain how extensively the plan has been shared with Iranian officials, and there is no indication yet of Iran’s willingness to consider it for negotiations. Likewise, the stance of Israel towards the proposal is unclear.
According to reports, mediators from Turkey, Egypt, and Pakistan are working towards facilitating a meeting between US and Iranian representatives within the next 48 hours. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif of Pakistan expressed readiness to host talks aimed at achieving a comprehensive settlement of the ongoing conflict.
Amid these peace efforts, The Pentagon is reportedly preparing to deploy 3,000 soldiers from the Army’s elite 82nd Airborne Division to the Middle East to support operations against Iran. Despite claims by President Trump of positive dialogues with Iran, Iranian authorities have denied any such interactions. Additionally, US intelligence reports indicate Iran’s alleged placement of mines in the Strait of Hormuz, with several Maham 3 and Maham 7 Limpet Mines reportedly discovered in the area.
