Multiple individuals were swiftly taken to the hospital following a vehicle crashing into a bustling pub. The distressing incident occurred at Murphy’s Irish Pub, specifically at the outdoor patio on the intersection of Pacific Avenue and 30th Street in Virginia Beach. The Virginia Beach Police confirmed the event took place around 7:45 pm on Friday evening.
According to a police spokesperson, the injured victims were promptly transported to nearby medical facilities with injuries varying from severe to non-life-threatening. The NBC network affiliate, WAVY TV 10, reported on the varying degrees of injuries sustained by the victims.
Witnesses at the scene captured images showing the vehicle driving onto the sidewalk and crashing through the pub’s fence in the seating area. Daniel Auxier, who was working as a valet nearby, described hearing screeching tires before witnessing the chaotic aftermath. He recounted seeing debris flying through the air, people screaming, and a passenger remaining seated after exiting the vehicle.
Auxier noted that the patio at Murphy’s Irish Pub was densely populated at the time of the collision. The Virginia Beach Police Department, when contacted by The Mirror, provided details of the emergency response, mentioning the ongoing investigation and the range of injuries suffered by the victims.
