Virgin Atlantic has launched its new daily direct service between London Heathrow and Incheon International Airport in Seoul, becoming the first UK airline to offer this route. Passengers can enjoy unique in-flight dining experiences, such as baby octopus, while cruising at 30,000 feet. The return fares for this route start at £889 when departing from the UK.
The inaugural 13-hour flight on a Boeing 787-9 marked a significant milestone for the airline, providing travelers with a comfortable and convenient journey. The aircraft, equipped with economy seats in a 3-3-3 layout, also features upper-class cabins where seats can transform into private beds. Virgin Atlantic has announced plans to redesign its Dreamliner cabins by 2028, aiming to enhance the passenger experience further.
The route launch comes amidst the rising popularity of South Korean culture, with shows like “Squid Game” and “K-Pop Demon Hunters” gaining global acclaim. In addition to cultural attractions, South Korea offers a vibrant travel, tech, and beauty industry, making it an exciting destination for tourists.
While the fare for this direct route is comparable to other airlines flying to Seoul, travelers can opt for indirect flights to reduce costs. However, long-haul flights contribute to carbon emissions, with economy class producing 3.6 tonnes of CO₂ per passenger. Virgin Atlantic’s CEO, Corneel Koster, expressed enthusiasm for the new service, highlighting the airline’s commitment to enhancing passenger connections and experiences.
For those interested in exploring Seoul, Virgin Atlantic offers holiday packages starting from £1499 per person, including accommodation at the Best Western Premier Gangnam. This new route not only strengthens the UK-South Korea ties but also provides travelers with seamless connections across the Indo-Pacific region.
