Vodafone Introduces Scam Call Protection Service to Combat Fraudulent Calls
Dealing with unsolicited phone calls has become a common issue for smartphone users. Recent data reveals that individuals in the UK receive an average of eight unwanted calls each month, many of which aim to extract personal information and credit card details for fraudulent purposes.
To address this growing concern and enhance customer safety, Vodafone has unveiled a new feature called Scam Call Protection. This innovative service leverages artificial intelligence (AI) to detect and highlight potentially deceptive, spam, scam, and bothersome calls.
Operated in the background, Scam Call Protection analyzes all incoming calls to users’ phones. If any suspicious activity is identified, customers will receive a straightforward on-screen notification alerting them to a potential scam call.
Rob Winterschladen, Consumer Director at VodafoneThree, emphasized the importance of such measures, stating, “Scam calls are becoming increasingly harder to spot, and it’s easy to feel caught off guard.” He further explained that Scam Call Protection on Vodafone Secure Net Mobile offers an added layer of security by continuously monitoring calls and flagging known or suspected scam calls. This initiative underlines Vodafone’s commitment to delivering comprehensive digital security features that empower individuals to feel safer, more informed, and in control of their online interactions.
The Scam Call Protection service is integrated into Vodafone’s Secure Net Mobile platform, which already includes advanced parental controls, round-the-clock ID monitoring to combat identity theft, and real-time virus and malware protection.
Interested individuals can trial the service for free for three months, after which it is available for £2 per month.
