A tragic incident involving a driver who was found to be under the influence of cocaine has led to the deaths of the driver and two passengers. The accident took place on the A48 near Bonvilston in the Vale of Glamorgan, Wales, around 5 pm on April 1 last year. The driver, Scott Jeffery, 34, along with his passengers, Lawrence Howells, 51, and Barrie John, 48, lost their lives when Jeffery’s Ford Puma collided head-on with a lorry.

Following an inquest at Pontypridd Coroner’s Court, it was determined that Scott Jeffery’s consumption of cocaine, a Class A substance, played a role in causing the fatal crash. Coroner Rachel Knight concluded that Jeffery’s death was a result of a road traffic collision, with cocaine use being highlighted as a contributing factor.

Scott Jeffery, who was originally from Pontypridd and resided in Brackla, Bridgend at the time of the incident, was described as unemployed during the inquest proceedings. Tributes were shared for Lawrence Howells, from Porthcawl, and Barrie John, from Ferndale, by their families last year, as reported by Wales Online.

The family of Barrie John, as stated by South Wales Police, expressed their deep sorrow over the loss, highlighting the impact of his mischievous yet endearing nature. Similarly, Lawrence Howells’ family expressed devastation and requested privacy to mourn his loss, sending their thoughts to all families affected by the tragic accident.
