“Woman Arrested for Attempted Murder in London Car Incident”

A woman has been apprehended on suspicion of attempted murder following a car striking pedestrians in central London during the early hours of Sunday morning.

Authorities reported that a woman in her 30s is in critical condition at a hospital, while a man in his 50s sustained life-altering injuries after being hit by a car on Argyll Street, Westminster, around 4:30 am. Additionally, another woman in her 30s suffered minor injuries in the incident.

The driver of the vehicle, a 29-year-old woman, was taken into custody at the scene for alleged attempted murder, grievous bodily harm, dangerous driving, and driving under the influence of alcohol, where she remains detained.

Law enforcement clarified that the occurrence, situated on a Soho street that houses the London Palladium theatre, is not linked to terrorism.

Detective Chief Inspector Alison Foxwell has urged potential witnesses to step forward, expressing concern for the injured individuals and their families. She emphasized the importance of anyone who may have observed the collision or relevant activities leading up to it to provide information, as even seemingly minor details could be crucial for investigators.

Following reports of a car colliding with pedestrians on Argyll Street at approximately 4:30 am on Sunday, 19 April, officers responded to the scene. Emergency services attended, and a woman in her 30s was transported to a hospital where she remains in critical condition.

A man in his 50s sustained significant injuries and was also hospitalized, while a third woman in her 30s received treatment for minor injuries.

The driver of the vehicle, a 29-year-old woman, was arrested on the spot for suspicion of attempted murder, GBH, dangerous driving, and driving under the influence and is currently in custody.

Authorities have confirmed that the incident is not being treated as terrorism-related.
