Travelodge, a popular budget hotel chain, has recently adjusted its pet policy in preparation for the upcoming busy travel season in May and summer. The hotel chain currently permits pets in all their accommodations, including standard rooms and SuperRooms. Each room can accommodate up to two domesticated animals, such as cats or dogs.
Previously, Travelodge charged £20 per pet per stay to cover the cost of an extra deep cleaning process after the guests’ departure. However, the pet fee has now been raised to £25 per stay, signaling a slight increase for pet owners who wish to bring their furry companions along.
According to a Travelodge spokesperson, the price adjustment was necessary due to rising operational expenses. The hotel chain takes pride in being the sole UK budget hotel chain that welcomes pets at all their 600+ locations throughout the year.
Customers traveling with pets can easily add them to their booking during the payment process. While pets are allowed in guest rooms, they are typically not permitted in bar and restaurant areas. However, assistance dogs are exempt from any additional charges and are welcomed at all Travelodge establishments.
In related news, a major European airline recently announced plans to allow dogs in the cabin, generating a significant public interest in pet-friendly travel options. A recent poll revealed that a vast majority of respondents support the idea of dogs accompanying their owners in the cabin during flights.
Furthermore, a survey indicated that many dog owners base their holiday destinations on their pets’ preferences. Popular dog-friendly travel spots in the UK include Devon and Cornwall. The survey also highlighted that a majority of dog owners prioritize destinations with suitable walking areas for their pets and plan their travel routes around pet-friendly rest stops.
