A 77-year-old woman tragically lost her life in a collision involving a lorry, according to the police. The incident occurred on Harrogate Road in Bradford at 5:35 pm BST on Wednesday, where the woman was hit by an HGV. Subsequently, the woman’s body was discovered on Neville Road in East Bowling, more than three miles away.
Regrettably, the woman was declared dead at the scene. Following the incident, a 55-year-old man was taken into custody on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. However, he has been released on bail pending further investigations.
A representative from West Yorkshire Police stated that based on their inquiries, it is believed that the woman was carried by the vehicle to Neville Road, where her body was found. The spokesperson confirmed the arrest of the 55-year-old man and mentioned ongoing inquiries.
Detective Inspector Paul Conroy expressed deep concern over the incident involving the elderly pedestrian in Bradford, extending sympathies to the affected family who are receiving support from trained officers.
Authorities are urging individuals who were in the vicinity of Harrogate Road or Killinghall Road, or those with dashcam footage of the HGV or pedestrian at the traffic lights, to come forward. Additionally, they are seeking information from the drivers of specific vehicles and anyone who witnessed the HGV heading towards Neville Road.
