A young man from the UK shared his experience of staying at a ‘celebrity hotel’, where he snagged a room for £37 per night and was allocated the Bon Jovi themed room. Spencer Ray Lyon, a 33-year-old content creator and live stream seller, opted for this hotel as the most budget-friendly choice during a recent trip to Bournemouth.
The hotel, although receiving mixed reviews on TripAdvisor, boasts an overall rating of 3.9 and is conveniently located just minutes away from Bournemouth Beach. Intrigued by the celebrity-themed concept, Spencer decided to give it a try.
Describing his stay, Spencer mentioned that the ‘celebrity’ label does not necessarily imply hosting A-list celebrities but rather features themed rooms inspired by well-known personalities. Upon arrival, he noticed peculiar decorations like Predator statues and a phone box at the entrance.
The rooms are adorned with posters and memorabilia related to various celebrities. Spencer was assigned the Bon Jovi room, which was adorned with posters but lacked the actual presence of the celebrity. He also encountered a unique feature – a figure of the Lord of the Rings character Legolas integrated into the wall. Additionally, the hallway displayed numerous Lord of the Rings posters.
Other themed rooms paid homage to Rowan Atkinson, Elvis, David Bowie, Keira Knightley, and Michael Jackson. Overall, Spencer indicated that his stay met his expectations considering the low price he paid. He found the staff to be friendly and accommodating, using the accommodation for a cost-effective overnight stop.
While acknowledging the celebrity aspect with a hint of skepticism, Spencer suggested that the hotel’s appeal lies in the visual treats of famous figures displayed along the way to the rooms. Pleased with the room’s amenities including a comfortable bed, a shower, and tea/coffee facilities, Spencer concluded that the experience was worth the price.
Spencer shared his experience through a video on his TikTok account @lifeatgully, garnering over 440,000 views at the time. Some viewers recognized the hotel from an episode of The Hotel Inspector, where Alex Polizzi aimed to enhance the glamour of a celebrity-themed hotel.
Feedback from previous guests highlighted the affordability of the hotel, with one guest amusingly recalling a room where the letter ‘B’ had fallen off the Beatles room sign, transforming it into ‘Eatles’. Another praised the bargain price and quality furniture.
Engaging in a playful thought, one commenter raised a hypothetical question about changing room decor if a celebrity were to face a scandal. For those interested in exploring the hotel firsthand, further information and bookings can be made at villarehotels.com/celebritybournemouth.
